MICHIGANMichigan State University MacCready Reserve – Project # 224This project converted 12 acres of aging red pine plantations, overgrown with exotic, invasive plant species, to native hardwood forests. It created a public demonstration area exhibiting how to combat invasive plants and undesirable woody regeneration in maturing plantations and native hardwood forest restoration and establishment. 12,000 seedlings of red oak, white oak, burr oak, and black cherry were planted on 12 acres. Partners included the Department of Forestry and the Lands Management Office and the W.K.
